‘Rick and Morty VR’ Tops the Charts for Most Downloaded PSVR Game in April

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality (2017) seems to have done well enough to rate it the number one most downloaded game this past month on PSVR, beating out the VR stalwarts Job Simulator (2016) and Superhot VR (2017).

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality was developed by Owlchemy Labs, the same minds behind Job Simulator, and was voiced by many of the actors from the TV series, including show creator Justin Roiland. First launching on Steam and the Oculus Store last year, it then made its way to PSVR on April 10th, giving it only around three weeks to reach the top.

Only one other game release in April to reach the top 10 list was Crisis on the Planet of the Apes (2018).

February’s list saw Moss (2018) break into the top 10 after launching on February 26th, giving it only two days on PSN to do so. We were expecting to see it higher up, although it admittedly hasn’t budged from the number seven spot.

A usual face in the crowd, PlayStation VR Worldswas wiped off the board last month, possibly owing to a glut of new PSVR owners settling into longer-form games. PlayStation VR Worlds is a collection of demos created to show some more early concepts such as The London Heist and Into the Deep.

Both Job Simulator and Superhot VR moved down a spot since February to make room for Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality.

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality puts you in the shoes of a Morty clone (the lowest form of life), where you’re put to work doing seemingly mundane and objectively wacky tasks in a room-scale environment—sort of like if Job Simulator and the Rick and Morty TV series had a freakish child.
